Debenham LC FC vs Great Yarmouth Town 1/10/22 – Match Report By Peter Futter

On the 1 ST of October the 1 st team travelled to Debenham LCFC in the Suffolk countryside. Again, the management team had
to deal with several changes to the team due to injuries and other commitments, but deal with them they did, with defeat
still fresh in the mind against Leiston Res midweek the team took to the pitch with a fresh line-up.

The game started with the Bloaters kicking into the wind and Debenham started strongly with Ben Golding going for power instead of guile and smacking what looked like an early setback for the Bloaters against the crossbar with only two minutes gone. Both teams really took a while to settle into the game, but with 18 gone, Jordan Cantwell put Ryan Jacobs in, but his effort goes narrowly over the bar. Only other first half action of note was a booking for the Debenham striker Golding as he puts his studs in Brady Philpott’s face.
Half time 0-0 with neither team deserving anything more.
Second half see’s Yarmouth start well, trying to play the ball on the floor to counteract the strong wind and in the 51 st minute following some good interplay Ryan Jacobs breaks the deadlock, 0-1 to the Bloaters. Three minutes later, George Couzens shuts down the Debenham goalkeeper Bailey Fairweather with the ball at his feet, Couzens steal the ball and its 0-2. Debenhams number 8 Luke Dunn goes in the book for a late tackle on Carter Trenery. 70minutes and a long range attempt from Couzens goes close. It’s all Bloaters in the second half. We then enter a period of substitutions; Jesse Fenn comes on for Trenery.

Keeper Rueben Lane saves well from Golding. Gerson Soares then makes way for debutant Nygan Gomes-Lopes and Harley Roberts for Tyrese Melo.

In the 83 rd minute Couzens again goes close after Fenn had worked his way past three. In the 85th that man Golding is the thick of it again and pulls one back for Debenham and it looks like a frantic last five would ensue, only for Gomes-Lopes to appear from nowhere following the restart to slot home to put the game to bed, In injury time a mix up at the back for Debenham gives Yarmouth a forth with an own goal. Final Score 1-4 and the points are coming back to the east coast.
