Charity Match

A Charity football match between Great Yarmouth Town F.C & Gorleston F.C was held at The Wellesley Stadium on Saturday 9th July 2022 in order to raise funds for 2 local charities, The Leah Wilby Foundation and also Great Yarmouth & Gorleston Lifeboat Station.

The Leah Wilby Foundation provides holiday accommodation in their 6 berth static caravan at Haven Seashore Great Yarmouth for families who are supporting young people who live in the UK and are suffering from childhood cancer. Great Yarmouth & Gorleston Lifeboat Station Cover a stretch of the Norfolk coast, Great Yarmouth & Gorleston RNLI Lifeboats consists of an all weather, Trent class lifeboat ‘Samarbeta’ and an Inshore, Atlantic 85 ‘John Rowntree’ The station is run and funded by the Royal National Lifeboat Institute and relies solely on charitable donations. The day provided a great turnout of people who kindly came down to The Wellesley to support the club in the event. 

The game itself was played in good spirits with both The Bloaters & Gorleston giving it their all.

Gorleston FC ended up lifting the trophy after their 2 nil win against The Bloaters. 

As a result of the game cheques for £500 each were presented to both charities.
